Visiting the excavations of Pompeii: useful tips to protect yourself against the heat
In view of the current weather warning of high temperatures, visitors are advised to:
- wear clothes made of natural fibres, that are not tight-fitting, and preferably light-coloured.
- Protect yourself with a hat and sunglasses;
- Protect your skin from sunburn with sunscreen with a high protective factor;
- Avoid visiting the archaeological site during the hottest hours of the day, especially with children and the elderly;
- Carry small bottles or flasks of water and drink even when you do not feel dehydrated. There are several public drinking water fountains inside the excavations (consult the map given out at the entrances to the park);
- Limit consumption of drinks with added sugar, coffee and alcohol;
