Pope Leo XIV visits the city of Pompeii

On the 8th May 2026, Pope Leo XIV will visit the city of Pompeii; we will remain open as usual, with access via the three entrances: Porta Marina, Piazza Esedra and Piazza Anfiteatro.
We would like to notify you of the traffic arrangements put in place by the City Council of Pompeii, which may affect your journey by car, particularly to the Piazza Anfiteatro (Amphitheatre) entrance:
- Via Roma: No parking. Vehicles will be towed away from 14:30 on 6 May 2026 until further notice. No entry from 05:00 on 8 May 2026 until further notice.
- Via Plinio (section from Via Mazzini to Via Roma). No parking. Vehicles will be towed away from 14:30 on 7 May 2026 until further notice. No entry from 05:00 on 8 May 2026 until further notice, with the exception of authorised vehicles and those heading to the Maria Rosaria Clinic or the car park on Via Cirillo (formerly Via Minutelle).
