Evening openings and special visits

From June to October

The summer season of evening events at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii begins with a rich variety of events from the end of June to October. These events will involve all the sites of the Park and will include evening openings, guided themed visits and extraordinary initiatives. There will also be theatrical events within the Pompeii Theatrum Mundi festival at the Large Theatre of Pompeii, and theatrical visits as part of the Campania by Night program in external sites conducted by Scabec.

Admission to the sites and visits will be regulated according to current guidance, and access will be subject to availability. Advance booking is advised at the www.ticketone.it website.

On arrival, visitors will be subjected to temperature checks by thermoscanner. Hand sanitiser gel dispensers for visitor use will be present at the entrance and at the toilets.

POMPEII

POMPEII THEATRUM MUNDI

The summer season at Pompeii opens with the fourth edition of the Pompeii Theatrum Mundi festival,with the staging of 5 prestigious shows (Resurrexit Cassandra, Pupo di Zucchero,Il Purgatorio. La notte lava la mente, Quinta Stagione, La Cerisaie / Il Giardino Dei Ciliegi) at the Large Theatre.

EUROPEAN NIGHT OF MUSEUMS – 3rdJuly

Evening openings begin on the3rdJulywith the European Night of Museums - a ministerial initiative which provides for evening openings at sites of culture, from 20:00 to 23:00 (last admissions at 22:00) - with several proposed visits.

  • Anindependent walk, at a cost of €1 (+€1.50 online advance sale fee; free tickets and reductions as per regulations), through the monumental area of the Forum. Entrance is via the Porta Marina superiore.
  • In a new development for the Park, it will be possibleto undertake an extraordinary free visit to the deposits of Pompeii, housed in the ancient Forum granaries.The visit will make it possible for the first time to admire the extraordinary variety and quantity of material used in commerce, that was found at Pompeii and beyond. Park staff will be on hand to provide explanations.

Groups of up to 10 people will be permitted. Advance booking is advised at the www.ticketone.it website.

  • It is also possible to request a guided visit conducted by Scabec. The cost is €5 (+€1.50 online advance sale fee). Visits are for groups of up to 20 people. Advance booking is advised at theticketone.it website.

For those interested in undertaking both visits, it will be possible to purchase tickets for the second visit at the Pompeii ticket office, subject to availability.

EVENING OPENINGSfrom the 6thAugust

On the following Fridays and Saturdaysfrom the 6th August(August 6thand 7th, 27thand 28th; September 3rdand 4th, 10thand 11th as well as the 25th- European Heritage Day) the offer includes:

  • Access to the Forum areafor an admission fee of €5 (+€1.50 online advance sale fee; free tickets and reductions as per regulations)

From the Porta Marina entrance, it will be possible to enter the Forum area, one of the most monumental parts of the site, which was the heart of political, religious and economic life in the ancient city, housing the main monuments of public life, including the Temple of Jupiter, the Macellum, the Temple of Apollo and the Basilica, before leaving via the Temple of Venus, from where it will be possible to access the Antiquarium, recently inaugurated with its new layout.

  • Guided visits on the theme of women in antiquity. The cost is €5 (+€1.50 online advance sale fee). Groups of up to 20 people will be permitted. Advance booking is advised at the ticketone.it website.

It will be possible to book a visit of 45 minutes to the monumental Forum area, conducted by Scabec, dedicated to the theme of women, with particular reference to the most prominent female personalities such as the priestess Eumachia, for whom the building in the Forum is named, or the goddess Fortuna, of the nearby temple, but also to the lives and activities of ordinary women.

  • Extraordinary visits to the Forum deposits/granaries. The cost is €5 (+€1.50 online advance sale fee). Groups of up to 10 people will be permitted. Advance booking is advised at the ticketone.it website.

For those interested in undertaking both visits, it will be possible to purchase tickets for the second visit at the Pompeii ticket office, subject to availability.

Disabled access is from Piazza Esedra using the lift in the Antiquarium, after reporting to staff at the entrance.

 

OTHER SITES OF THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK

EUROPEAN NIGHT OF MUSEUMS – 3rdJuly

Villa of Poppaea (40 people max every 30 minutes), Villa Regina (15 people max every 30 minutes), Villa San Marco (40 people max every 30 minutes), Libero D’Orsi Archaeological Museum of Stabiae-Royal Palace of Quisisana (20 people max every 30 minutes)

3rdJulyEuropean Night of Museums: evening opening from 20:00 to 23:00 (last entrance at 22:00). Independent visit at a cost of €1(+€1.50 online advance sale fee; free tickets and reductions as per regulations).

It will also be possible, at a cost of €5 (+€1.50 online advance sale fee), to request a guided visit conducted by Scabec. Visits are for groups of up to 20 people (10 people for the Libero D’Orsi Museum).

EVENING OPENINGSfrom the 9th July

Every Friday and Saturday from the9thJuly until the 31st July, it will be possible to access Villa San Marco at Stabiae, the Villa of Poppaea at Oplontis, Villa Regina at Boscoreale and the Libero D’Orsi Archaeological Museum of Stabiae-Royal Palace of Quisisanafor evening openings.

 

On the25thSeptember, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days, there will be evening openings of the Villa of Poppaea, Villa Regina and the Libero D’Orsi Archaeological Museum of Stabiae- Royal Palace of Quisisanafrom 20:00to 23:00 (last admissions at 22:00).

Advance booking is advised at the www.ticketone.it website (the cost of booking online is €1.50).

In addition it will be possible to book a guided visit conducted by Scabec at a cost of €5 (+€1.50 online advance sale fee).Visits will be for groups of up to 20 people (10 people for the Libero D’Orsi Archaeological Museum of Stabiae, and 15 people for Villa Regina).

STABIAE

Stabiae LiberatedTheatrical visit

Special visits to two of the most beautiful examples of local aristocratic residences of the  Roman age, with explanations of the sites by an archaeologist, and a theatrical performance that, through the key figure of the headmaster Libero D’Orsi, recountsthe excavations of Stabiae in the 1950’s, of which D’Orsi was promoter and architect, accompanied in the show by his scholastic collaborator Don Ciccio. The text is by the director and author Fabio Cocifoglia. At Villa San Marco, the narration focuses particularly on the personal life of D’Orsi, from his youthful curiosity for archaeology to his ‘mission’ to recover the site; at Villa Arianna the story focuses on the figure of D’Orsi as a man of letters and philosophy. The visits and theatrical performances are conducted by Casa del Contemporaneo / Le Nuvole

  • Libero D’Orsi Archaeological Museum of Stabiae - Royal Palace of Quisisana:1st,2nd,8th,9thOctober

Theatrical visits to the Libero D’Orsi Archaeological Museum of Stabiae are conducted by Casa del Contemporaneo/Le Nuvole. The Museum, inaugurated last September, houses and displays the many prestigious finds which come from the Stabiae area.

OPLONTIS

  • Villa of PoppaeaSunday 5thSaturday 11thand 18thSeptember

The memories of Oplontis – a roving theatrical journeyby Vincenzo Liguori

In collaboration with the Showlab Association, visitors will be accompanied inside the majestic Villa of Poppaea at Torre Annunziata, attributed to the second wife of Nero, by theatrical actors and dancers, and will also have the assistance of an app.

 

The visit will conclude in the Tablinum and the garden of the Villa, where artists and musicians playing ancient instruments will recreate the atmosphere of the age, through the sound of the lyre and the harp.

BOSCOREALE

  • Villa Regina:Sunday 12th /19th /26thSeptember

Parthenoplay

Guided tours conducted by archaeologists inside the rooms of the Villa Regina, a well-preserved example of a rustic farm adapted for the production of wine, with numerous dolia embedded in the ground which were used for storing wine.

 

At the end of each visit there will be swing music entertainment by the MB Concerti Asssociation, directed by Maestro Giuseppe Di Capua, with the performance “Parthenoplay”, with the trio Marina Bruno (vocals), Giuseppe Di Capua (piano) and Peppe La Pusata (drums).
